Young At Heart.

Today's Marketing Cookie is about how young you feel.

My mother has been celebrating her 39th birthday every year for as long as I can remember. She always guarded her date of birth like a state secret, and I, for one, was strictly on a "need to know" basis. She is very convincing though because she's full of life. Even if you are living youthfully in denial, the truth is, you are truly only as old as you feel.

Growing old gracefully may be fine for you personally, but such an approach in your profession is ill-advised. Doing things the cranky old way you've done them is not an option for companies who want to outlive their competition. Stay young at heart! The world of commerce is changing faster than it can be tracked, and your tired, sleepy ways may be slowing you down. The universe of marketing is expanding into unexplored territory, and your comfortable old ways may be preventing your chance to stake a claim in the new frontier.

Companies young at heart eagerly venture. Companies that let themselves become old merely consider. Where's your drive? Are you looking for a venture, or are you still trying to go upstairs and sleep on it? Somewhere out there, during your slumber, someone feeling younger has already jumped on your next big opportunity. LET'S GET GOING! They've got nothing on you! As today's fortune says, "Old age is always 20 years older than you are."
