Break The Cookie.

Today's Marketing Cookie is impossible.

As the old saying goes, one must break a few eggs to make an omelet. There are many moments in life where we are so busy mourning the end of something that we tend to overlook the opportunity of celebrating the beginning of something new.

For instance, if you've lost your job, you may be tempted to play the role of victim and sulk in the injustice that has been done to you. Meanwhile, you might be overlooking all the experience and expertise you've gained, which likely increased the value you bring, well beyond the near-sighted appraisal of you by your previous company. Your release from their company gives you an exciting opportunity to take a step up in another company that is currently looking for someone just like you.

My oldest daughter is 18, and it won't be too long before all of our three working prototypes choose to leave our nest. My wife and I could lament the loss of our goslings and complain about our empty house, or we could choose to start a new chapter in our lives. It's all in how you look at it. Just as Forrest Gump's mom told him, "If God wanted us to all be the same, he would have given all of us braces on our legs." Sometimes, bad news is simply just a matter of perspective.

So, don't be tempted to play the victim at the end of something, but rather be the champion of creating something new. There's no way to see your fortune without breaking the cookie. So, I advise you to ignore today's fortune, which says, "If your cookie is still in one piece, buy a lotto." Go ahead and break the cookie; you may be surprised at what you find inside!
