Happy Doomsday Eve!

Today's Marketing Cookie is about the promise of tomorrow.

Today is Doomsday Eve! It has been predicted as a day when time will stop, according to a widely spread, unsettling interpretation of the ancient Mayan calendar.

Here's a tip: If you ever wake up one day and decide to carve a calendar, please use common courtesy and select a bigger rock. Apparently, if you run out of space on your piece of stone, you might cause the rest of us to run out of time.

I don't know if the world will end at twelve midnight on December 21, 2012. I do surely know, however, that time will stop for one second tomorrow night, at precisely 11:59 PM and 59 seconds. At the very end of that one second, when the clock finally strikes twelve, the end of that day will be upon us, never, ever to be again. Yes, the Mayan calendar will most definitely expire.

If we are to survive this passing of time, which I suspect we will, it will be time for you to set a new future. Don't feel obligated to chisel out the next five thousand years. That's way too much work for one day. However, I do recommend you make the most of your time and jot down some goals for next month, next quarter, and maybe even prepare your New Year's resolution.

While the past is the basis of your education and experience, the future holds your greatest opportunity. Use what you've learned as motivation to visualize and construct a new future for yourself. If things don't go well for you tomorrow, don't fret. Time will reset again, and today will once again become yesterday. Keep your eyes on tomorrow though, because as today's fortune says, "Hardly anyone knows how much is gained by ignoring the future." Remember, the best part of the future is that it comes one day at a time.
