Today's Marketing Cookie is about making a memorable impression on your customers.

Our agency charges a reasonable rate for our marketing strategy and tactical expertise. However, if you look around, you will find agencies with more overhead who charge more, as well as some who charge less, and in some cases, you'll find an agency that charges significantly less. So then, being somewhere in the middle, we are often selected based on other criteria, such as our creativity, our dashing good looks, or the relevance of our client list.

Once a client chooses to work with us, we give them 110% of our attention. Really! When we have a retainer with a client, we promise to work toward the total budget of hours they've paid for, plus 10%. It is a good policy. Being good looking is one thing, but over-servicing our accounts is why we believe our clients stay with us for an average of seven years. You can well imagine that seven years outlive the duration of most of the people who originally chose to hire us.

Sometimes our client will be convinced that they can save money by going with a less expensive agency. It happens. Well, sometimes that choice doesn't work out so well, and we get a call from them asking if we will take them back again. This call happens because they like our work, they like our thinking, and they like us. People like to work with people they like. This is true.

It doesn't matter if you own a restaurant, a medical device company, or a sneaker company. If you're doing an excellent job for your customers and consistently giving them 110%, you've probably made a positive difference for them. Even if they wander away for a while, don't fret. Your dedication has made a memorable impression, and your creativity has made an impact. And as today's fortune says, "A fond memory will soon lead to a renewed friendship."
