Time to Relax.
Today's Marketing Cookie is about taking time to relax.
This is the Tuesday morning after a long relaxing weekend. It's still early, but all through the house, I can hear eager alarms being repeatedly silenced. Each time an alarm sounds off, the snooze buttons are hit more rapidly. They must lay in their beds, trying to maintain their slumber while attempting to calculate how many times they can hit the snooze button and still make it to school on time.
I, on the other hand, have inherited the "morning person" gene from my mother. I don't know if her side of the family woke up with the sun because they were farmers, or if they became farmers because they rise with the sun. Either way, they kicked off their day with a bounce in their step as if to say, the best part of every day is the start. Apparently, apples don't fall far from the tree, which is why I snap to my feet every morning too. While the rest are at rest, I wake up every day ready to make my Marketing Cookies.
Okay, well, maybe not every day.
Yes, I still woke up before the early birds this weekend, but I didn't write any new cookies. Rather than telling stories, I played "Plants vs. Zombies" on the Xbox, practiced my guitar, and dismantled the long-neglected swing set in our backyard. Yes, I still got going before the broadcast day, but my computer and the blog remained closed for the duration of the holiday weekend. Rather than wrangling fortunes into marketing truths, I hung out, watched a movie, and cut the lawn with our broken self-propelled lawn mower, which was propelled by... myself.
I took a digital vacation from my vocation and unplugged to recharge. I got up from the kitchen table where I usually do my writing and moved to the couch to do a little bit of nothing. The truth is, whether you set an alarm or not, Tuesday morning was bound to arrive, and when it did, I put myself back into my routine. It was a nice break. I really needed one. Remember, you can't always be working. Sometimes you have to do as today's fortune says: "Relax and enjoy yourself."
